The Sofa Explosion- Sleeptalk.

A new upcoming band, called The Sofa Explosion, have just released a beautifully powerful little EP called Sleeptalk. Im completely in love with it, and was lucky enough to be there when they were recording. I now know after hearing the final released version, and being able to compare it to the music that i heard them record, that they are a fucking musically talented bunch of young boys who deserve so much credit. Everyone should hear this, so download it from: http://thesofaexplosion.bandcamp.com/

You're gonna be totally amazed and flabbergasted and all that.

So plug in, turn it up, and fall in love.

Timber Timbre.

So, during the last month, I've managed to find and fall in love with a band that sounds like, what i can only describe as, the ability to hear a psycho-thriller movie while being completely deaf. I know that sounds like a bit of a mouth-full, or even a mind-full, but just close your eyes and listen to their music (especially from the album "Creep on Creepin' on") and tell me that you don't feel the exact same way. If you dont feel this way, then im sorry, and its fair to say that my blog probably isn't for you. On the other hand, if you do think that this description of Timber Timbre's music is accurate, then maybe we should have a Star Wars wedding and run off into the sunset. End of.

So, this is 2/3 of the music trio that make up the magical Timber Timbre. Their names are Simon Trottier and Mika Posen. The third one that isn't in this picture is called Taylor Kirk. Its not that i dont like Taylor, i just can't find a picture of them all together. They're classed as 'Canadian Folk', but personally i feel that genre is completely misguiding, so i'm going to call them 'Swampy, ragged, blues'.
Anyway, back to the music. Timber Timbre have released four incredible albums, but i do have two favorites. One being "Creep on Creepin' on" (as mentioned above), and one self-titled album called.... wait for it..... Timber Timbre. If you didn't get that then maybe you're not paying enough attention. Both of these are more recent than the two previous albums released in 2006 & 2007. Now, each album has a different feel to it. So, to try and put it into the context of a day, Creep on Creepin' on is good for waking up, as it contains more power and speed than the self-named album, which is lacking such aspects. This album also contains two experimental-like tracks, which are lyric-less and full of noises that resemble what i think the Devil's violin would sound like. None-the-less, they are well structured and are worth the occasional listen, but probably not the best idea if you're just waking up as you will probably shortly after find your iPod in 20,000,000 pieces on the floor on the opposite side of the room once you've eventually gotten out of bed. Anyway, these tracks are called 'Obelisk' and 'Swamp Magic', and should be steered clear of in the early morning hours.
Second album, 'Timber Timbre', very good for listening to before bed, or to stop yourself from jumping off a building into a pool of heavy traffic. Lots of calming melodies and vocals, and a heavy use of reverb and echo, that would usually annoy me to the point of no return, but for some reason i seem to even enjoy it on this album. Generally good, little bit repetitive, but not so much that you get confused which song you're listening to, because thats really annoying, and makes me want to take my eyes out and put them in my ears (exaggeration).

Finally, the spooky artwork of the albums should make you want to listen to them enough without even reading this blog.

The Black Keys.

Once again, its been a while, but thats really not my fault. I know you may not believe me, but I've been REALLY busy (or so i'd like to think). Yes, yes, i understand this is no excuse, and i apologize, but im here now, right?
Anyway, ive decided to focus this blog on a band that i really cant get enough of, called The Black Keys. The Black Keys are an American blues-rock band formed in Akron, Ohio, in 2001, and are by far better than anything produced in 2001 (espech the trends: eg. two toned shoes and bucket bags).

When taking a glance at the appearance of this genius musical duo, Dan Auerbach (vocalist/guitarist) and Patrick Carney (drummer), the first occupation criteria that comes to mind would most definitely not be an awesome blues-rock band, but more of a banker and an estate agent for Foxtons. Now, Muma always said to never judge a book by its cover, and boy was Muma a smart woman. This band radiates talent, and the quality of everything that they do is better than a lot of the crap that you hear churned out by the music industry today thats solely made for money-making purposes. The Black Keys have something special, and most importantly, you can actually hear that they care about the music.

Anyway, theres my rant. Personally i feel that Brothers is their best album yet, but give all their stuff a listen, its really worth it. Also try and check out their music videos, they're completely random and make no sense but are none-the-less very cool indeed.

I'll end my post here.

Milan Baby!

Currently, im at my friend Harveys house with the lads who instead of talking find it much more sociable to shout at the TV while playing Fifa on the almighty X-box. For some reason, this inspired me to write about my up-coming trip to Milan with my best friend Noush (short for Anoushka of course).
So, get this right, her brothers a model in Milan fashion week, so Noush (being the best friend that she is) managed to get us in on the action. We leave on the 14th of this month just for a weekend, but jesus christ, i cant explain how excited i am about it all. Not only is it a good ole' art and photography trip which will gain us great points with the teachers at our college, but its also a chance to go somewhere ive never been before....
Also, last thing, Mum (yes, its in capitals because thats her name) told me not to sleep with any Italian boys because i'll come home with some strange disease due to their bad reputation. Cool.

Anyway, i gotta go back and join the guys.

Hope you enjoyed that. And now i shall end my blog in the classical way that every one of them ends...

Appetite for Destruction.

So, i've stumbled apon a not-so-new but none-the-less incredible album from the good ole' Guns N Roses. Thanks to an amazingly wonderful fantastic friend with a perfect taste in music, I had all these beautiful little wonders sent to me due to my current financial status being so poor that even Ebay is cutting me off. If you don't already have this album, then get it, because i cant stop listening to it.

My favorites are Mr. Brownstone, Nightrain, and You're Crazy. Pick it up, give it a listen, and fall in love.

Trellik.

I can only apologize for the significant lack of posts up on here recently, but im ashamed to say, i kinda forgot i had a blog. But, im back, so fear not little chickadees.
So, whats been going on... Since my last post ive been back from Ibiza, in school (and may i add suffering), and getting into mischief (as per usual).
i dont think anyone quite understands the true horrific strain of GCSEs, or maybe im just super slow, but to me they're nothing but shapes and colors... and that just cant be normal, right?
So i decided to turn over a new leaf, and actually try for once, and first thing on my list was art. I went to Portabello to the Trellik tower and took some photos like this...

...Im planning to do some sort of sewing beading thing with them for my final piece.
Anyway, enough about school, plus theres only 2 weeks left of it before half term...
But bad news, im no longer going to Ibiza, its too expensive, and of course me being the unorganized so and so that i am, i didnt book the flights when they were cheap. GREAT.
But, Half term brings Halloween, and Halloween brings lots of dressing up choices, and even though ill probably be a cat (like i have been annually since i was 5) i still need to get out there and try and look as ridiculous as possible, whiskers or no whiskers.
Anyway im off to finish a tune, oh the pressures of music GCSE.
Wish me luck...
